Final Presentations

Final presentations will be made in ISB 102 from 9:00 to 12:00 and 1:00 to 4:00 on Friday, July 22, 2005.

Guidelines:

1. Each student will have 10 minutes to present their design for a museum exhibit answering one of the ICE-9 questions about nanotechnology.

2. Consolidating what you learned about nanotechnology takes priority over designing an interactive exhibit, so if you find that you need to sacrifice the concept of an exhibit in order to convey your concepts and content, then do so.

3. PowerPoint presentations should be brought on flash drives (earlier we had allowed posted on a website or bringing personal laptops, but the room lacks a live Internet connection and laptops will take too long to swap).

4. Presentations should be no longer than 10 slides, and can be shorter.

5. Each slide should have limited information (typically 7 +/- 2 ideas) and large text.

6. Use the text on your slides to guide your presentation (and to remind you what you want to address), not as the full text of your presentation (reading slides out loud is dull).

7. Select graphics and colors to explain the concept, not distract from it.

8. Graphics, charts, and the like that are not created by the student should have their source identified on the same slide (URL, person, or organization name).

9. The last slide should be a list of sources you used for the information in the presentation (about five sources).

10. Provide a copy of your presentation to Bill Thompson.
